The Cora Institute is proud to announce the launch of its initiative dedicated to fostering cultural change through an entrepreneurial approach that enables value creation based on the 4Ps: Planet, People, Purpose and Profit. We were honored to have Michael Schindhelm, a prominent figure in the world of cultural theory and policy, as a guest speaker at our inaugural event. Schindhelm's presentation, deeply informed by his work on "Culture Plasma," provided insightful perspectives on the transformation of cultural landscapes in the digital age.
In his presentation, Schindhelm emphasized how cultural plasma challenges conventional cultural policies and practices. He discussed how the digital age has reshaped our cultural institutions and practices, transforming them into a diffuse, expansive realm where consumers and creators interact continuously across multiple platforms, both online and offline. This transformation, according to Schindhelm, requires a new kind of cultural entrepreneurship that embraces flexibility, innovation, and a deep understanding of digital dynamics:
The entrepreneur thinks about the future first. Not everyone sets up an institute straight away, but they do think about the future. They set themselves short and long-term goals and utilise material, intellectual, emotional and social resources to achieve these goals. Since he does not know the future, he needs two things, among others:
- Flexibility in dealing with his resources and goals
- a feeling for the stability of his goals and a calculation for the use of his resources.
You could also say that he needs to have an alert mind in order to be prepared for the future.
At the Cora Institute, we were inspired by Schindhelm's vision to prepare cultural entrepreneurs who can navigate and shape this new landscape. Our programs are designed to equip emerging leaders and cultural practitioners with the tools and insights they need to thrive in a world where culture is both ubiquitous and in constant flux. We believe that understanding and leveraging the concept of cultural plasma is essential to fostering innovative projects that are sustainable, impactful, and responsive to our changing world.
